The 2005 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 97, Number 2 Robert Boury***PremieresSoprano Katheryn Venable presented Robert Boury’s Domination of Black with pianist Kurt Carpenter at the University of Birmingham (AL). The opening of the Clinton Library was celebrated November 9, 2004, at the Little Rock (AR) Artspree Series with the premiere of Boury’s Of History and Hope (after Miller Williams’ second inaugural poem), with mezzo-soprano Leigh Holman and the University of Arkansas Gospel Chorale directed by Sharon Young, accompanied by the composer. PerformancesThe song cycle Three Wishes was performed October 7, 2004, at Quachita Baptist University, Arkadelphia, AR, with soprano Jeanie Darnell, flutist Katherine Kleitz, oboist Gail Grycel, and pianist Marc Lauritsen. Row Twelve Ensemble performed Poem for flute, oboe, and piano at Harvard Epworth Methodist Church, Cambridge, MA, and again at Harvard Unitarian Church on the Common, November 3-4. The Rockefeller String Quartet presented String Quartet in G Major on November 19, at the Arkansas Arts Center, Little Rock. On November 21, the song cycle American Names was heard as performed by soprano Victoria Wefer, accompanied by pianist Carmela Sinco, for the Town and Gown Day Concert Series, New Jersey City (NJ) University.
