The 2005 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 97, Number 2 Robert JagerRobert Jager is one of ten composers featured in “Composers on Composing for Band, Volume II,” by author/composer Mark Camphouse. This volume contains a series, which is partly biographical, but largely a summary of each composer’s views on inspiration and composing, principally for the band medium. Published by GIA Publications of Chicago, the book was released in December 2004. PremieresCovenant was introduced May 1, 2004, in a concert given by the Jackson County (TN) High School Band, under the direction of Carroll Gotcher. PerformancesDuring Jager’s time as guest composer at Purdue (IN) University, Hebraic Rhapsody (conducted by Pamela Nave), To Music (conducted by William Kissinger), Esprit de Corps (conducted by David Leppala), and Sinfonia Noblissima (conducted by Jay Gephart) were presented in Showcase Concerts April 25-26, 2004. On May 1, soprano Kerri Marcinko, with the Adrian (MI) Symphony Orchestra under the direction of John Dodson, presented A Child’s Garden of Verses. During the Auburn (AL) University Band Festival, February 15, 2005, the composer will conduct performances of Hebraic Rhapsody, Carpathian Sketches, and Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann.
