Sydney Hodkinson

Sydney Hodkinson is Almand Chair of Composition at Stetson University for the academic year 2004-05.

Premieres

Moniumentum pro umbris for wind ensemble, was premiered November 6, 2003, by the Stetson University Symphony Band, under the direction of Bobby Adams, DeLand, FL. Drawings: Set #13, six miniatures for two violas, was first heard in a performance by Karen Ritscher and James Dunham, March 15, 2004, Shepherd School of Music, Houston, TX; the group also performed the piece July 12, at the Aspen (CO) Music Festival.

Performances

Branches was presented by violinist Linda Hsu, November 17, 2003, at the SCL Conference, Stetson University, DeLand, FL. Serenata Oscura for chamber ensemble, was performed November 21 by the Contemporary Ensemble directed by Mark Gibson, Cincinnati (OH) Conservatory of Music. Pianist Ann Schein performed Minor Incidents, April 27, 2004, at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. String Trio (alla marcia) was presented August 15 by violinist Naoko Tanaka, violist John Graham, and cellist Darrett Adkins, at the Aspen (CO) Music Festival.
