The 2005 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 97, Number 2 Walter S. Hartley**PremieresWalter S. Hartley’s My Shepherd’s Sacred Throne was premiered by alto saxophonist David Parks and organist Jonathan Hogan on February 2, 2004, at the University of Southern Mississippi. Faculty members of the University of Wisconsin-Madison presented Quartet for low brass and piano on February 15. On May 16, Fantasy Pieces for alto saxophone, cello, and piano was first heard in a performance by faculty members of Ohio Northern University. PerformancesDuet for violin and tuba was performed January 17, 2004, at Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. Dance Suite for alto sax, violin, and piano, was heard January 24 in a performance by the Washington (DC) Musica Viva. Faculty members of Joliet (IL) Junior College presented Concertino da Camera for soprano sax and brass quintet on March 18. Sinfonia No. 15 for saxophones was premiered April 8, by students of SUNY-Fredonia, under the direction of Wildy Zumwalt. Concertino No. 2 for bass saxophone and winds was heard in the Netherlands as performed by saxophonist A. Van Zoelen and the St. Cecilia Ensemble.
