The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Joshua M. Missal Composer Joshua Missal passed his 90th birthday completing the following commissions: Invocation for double bass and piano, for bassist Allan von Schenkel; and Sarcasm for Three for viola, clarinet, and trombone, for the Eugene Chamber Ensemble. Premieres Passing for symphonic band was introduced on April 28, 2005, by the Oklahoma State University Symphonic Band, directed by Daymon Sherin. Performances Rondo Caprice for flute choir was performed February 28, 2005, by the Pocatello (ID) Flute Choir, under the direction of Pamela George. Carson Suite was presented on July 15 by the DC Youth Orchestra, Washington, DC. Passing, in its orchestral version, will be performed in February 2006 by the Wichita Symphony and in March by the Eugene (OR) Symphony.
