The 2006 American Composers Updateas published in PAN PIPES, Volume 98, Number 2 Larry Thomas Bell*** String Quartet No. 3, by Larry Thomas Bell, was premiered December 11, 2005, by the Borromeo String Quartet at Forsyth Chapel in Jamaica Plain, MA. A new CD, titled the Piano Music of Larry Bell, performed by the composer, will be released at the end of the year by Albany Records. The composer’s website may be found at www.LarryBellMusic.com. Premieres Spirituals, a chamber symphony for ten players, was first heard in a March 13, 2008miered May 2 by Megan Ankuda, St. Cecilia’s Church, Boston, MA. On May 25, the composer presented TALA (Piano Sonata No. 2), Elegy for piano, and Four Chorale Preludes for piano, in concert at the New England Conservatory, Boston, MA. Performances Song of Time and Eternity was performed by soprano Robin Reinert and pianist Luis Ortiz on January 31, 2005, at the New England Conservatory (NEC) New Music Festival; soprano Clara Sandler also presented the work on September 16 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The Greater New Orleans (LA) Youth Orchestra and Jefferson Performing Arts Society presented Songs of Innocence and Experience on February 26. Mahler in Blue Light for clarinet, cello, and piano was heard in recital at St. Cecilia’s Church on May 2 in Boston, MA. Nick Tolle performed Caprice No. 4 for solo marimba July 6 and 16 at the Aspen (CO) Music Festival.
