Robert Ward***

Robert Ward received an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from North Carolina State University
in January 2005. Throughout the year, Ward gave lectures and presentations at the productions of his operas.

Premieres

The opera A Friend of Napoleon (libretto by James Stuart), was introduced on July 7, 2005, by the Ohio Light Opera with Sara Gartland, Joshua Kehl, and Oliver Henderson, directed by Steven Daigle and conducted by Lynn Thompson.

Performances

Claudia Legare was performed January 14-16, 21-23, 2005, by the Di Capo Opera under the direction of Michael Copasso. The Crucible received performances from the Indianapolis Opera, March 4 and 6, and the Utah Festival Opera, July 8, 14, 21, 29, and August 4. The Knoxville Opera presented Roman Fever (libretto by Roger Brunyate, after Edith Wharton) April 9-11 in a production conducted by James Fellenbaum and directed by Carroll Freeman. Raleigh Divertimento, nonet version, was presented by the Czech Nonet on June 16 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. Seventh Symphony was heard in performance at
the Conductors Institute at the University of South Carolina.
