A. Oscar Haügland
A. Oscar Haügland is retired as a professor of theory/composition
at Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb. Currently,
he is working on
Concertino for Bassoon and Strings.
Premieres
Markus Häberling soloed with the Orchestra de Chambre
de Lausanne (Switzerland), Lawrence Foster conducting,
in the premiere of
Concertino for English Horn and
Strings, Mar. 19, 1996. On Mar. 25, 1996, Kevin Brandon
and John Morrissey presented
4 Duets from 5 Suites
for 2 Tubas, at the Northern Illinois University School
of Music. In 1996 Cheri Boock directed the first performances
of
Song of the Wave, with the Gibraltar Singers
of Fish Creek, WI, at the University of Wisconsin, Madison
(Feb. 10); and with the Senior Chorus, in Fish Creek (Apr.
19).
Performances
Arthur Montzka conducted the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra
in
Psalm 86, Apr. 24, 1996, in DeKalb. Works heard
in 1997 at the Northern Illinois University School of
Music included
Interludium, with Patricia Cichy,
oboe, and Rosemary Lane, organ (Mar. 18); and
Hocket
Toccata, with the Northern Illinois University Flute
Ensemble under Stephen Squires (Apr. 14). On Apr. 18,
1997, DeKalb's Episcopal Church of St. Paul choir, directed
by Dalia Bach, sang
Holy Spirit, Truth Divine.
