Annual American Composers Update

David Vayo works at Illinois Wesleyan University, in Bloomington, IL. Recently, he served on the judging panel for the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica's Sinfonía Centenario competition for Latin American composers.

On May 27, 1997, William Bootz, solo trombone, performed Eight Poems of William Carlos Williams at the International Trombone Festival, held at the University of Illinois. Organist Susan Klotzbach presented Prayer: In Memoriam Olivier Messiaen at the American Guild of Organists southern regional conference, held in Birmingham, AL, July 9, 1997. The New Music and Art Festival at Bowling Green (OH) State University included Five Small Packages, for string quartet, Oct. 17, 1997.
