Elizabeth R. Austin
Elizabeth R. Austin spends the summer in Mannheim, Germany
and the rest of the year in Storrs, CT. In February 1997,

Reflected Light (Chamber Music of Elizabeth
Austin), was nominated for the Nashville Music Awards.
She received a 1996-97 Connecticut Commission on the Arts
Grant.
Premieres
Wilderness Symphony was heard first in February
1997 with the Manchester (CT) Symphony Orchestra, Tibor
Putztai conducting. Led by Mary Lou Rylands, the Cello
Society of the University of Connecticut presented
Water
Music I, for eight cellos. Susan Lowenkron soloed
in the first performance of
Sans Souci Suite, for
Baroque flute and percussion, January 1997, at the Musical
Club of Hartford (CT).
Performances
In October 1996 the Rialto Brass Quintet played
To
Begin in Atlanta, GA. In 1997
Puzzle Preludes,
for piano, was heard at Trinity College, Hartford, CT,
with the composer at the piano (Apr.); and at the International
College Music Society Convention, Vienna, Austria, played
by Oresta Cybriwski (July).
