Annual American Composers Update
John H. Beck
On May 19, 1997, John H. Beck received Eastman School
of Music's Eisenhart Award in recognition of distinguished
teaching. In 1997 he served as teacher, clinician, and
performer at Rollins College, Orlando, FL (Apr. 4-5);
the University of Colorado, in Boulder (Apr. 8-9); SUNY
College at Geneseo (May 5); West Chester (PA) University
Summer Percussion Camp (Aug. 4-6); and the Interlochen
(MI) Arts Camp (Aug. 9-12). He adjudicated the Missouri
State Music Festival, held at the University of Missouri,
May 1-2, 1997.
Performances
In 1997 Beck performed his
Concerto for Timpani
at Rollins College (Apr.); the University of Colorado,
in Boulder (April 1997); and SUNY College at Geneseo (May
5). He played
Concerto for Drumset at the Interlochen
Arts Camp, August 1997.
