Klaus George Roy
Klaus George Roy lives in Cleveland
Heights, OH. For the 1997-98 season, he is giving six
illustrated lectures at the Cleveland Museum of Art,
entitled "Image into Sound -- the Composer Hears a Painting."
Premieres
In 1997 Still Pond, Op. 137,
for speaker and piano, was heard first, with baritone
Andrew White and pianist Nancy Brittain, at Judson Manor,
Cleveland (July 15), and the Cleveland Music School
Settlement (July 20).
Performances
On the same programs, White and Brittain
presented six of Roy's songs and song cycles. St.
Francis' Canticle of the Sun, Op. 17, was heard
at the Old Stone Church, in Cleveland, conducted by
Warren Scharf, with violist Marcia Ferrito, Apr. 18,
1997. Richard Weiss, cello, and Joela Jones, piano,
played Recitative, Elegy, and Joyous Coda, Op.
89, at the Cleveland Institute of Music, July 9, 1997.
In St. Stephan's Cathedral, in Vienna, Austria, organist
Karel Paukert performed Inaugural Fantasia, Op.
54, July 16, 1997.
