Elizabeth Grieger Wiegand
SAI Patroness Elizabeth Grieger Wiegand
makes her home in Michigan City, IN. She played works
by Bach, Walther, Andre, and Brahms, and premiered her
own hymns Let the Glories of God Ring Out and
Holy Lord God Father of All on the Metzler and
Schyven organs, Apr. 25, 1998 at the Cathedral of Antwerp
(Belgium), and was invited for a personal inerview with
the Bishop of Antwerp, Monsignor Van den Berghe. For
the sixth time, and the fourth consecutive time, she
has received an ASCAP Popularity award. She is State
Chairperson of the National Federation of Music Clubs
National Music Week, for which she was awarded a 1998
Individual Award of Merit. The Michigan City Interfaith
Choir, which she directs, received a plaque from the
Arts Council Co-op group for Community Service. In 1998,
the choir, along with her advanced piano students, opened
the new Footlight Theatre in Michigan City (Sept. 27),
and performed along with other students at the Michigan
City Public Library for the annual Cystic Fibrosis Fund
Raiser Concert (Oct. 24). Wiegand is area Chairperson
for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 1998 articles about
her and her recent achievements appeared in the Post-Tribune
newspaper (Aug. 29, 1998), in the Piano Guild Notes
magazine (Aug. 1998), and in the American Organist.
