Annual American Composers Update

SAI Friend of the Arts Greg Sanders serves as Coordinator of Theory/Composition at Texas A & M University, in Kingsville. Southern Music Co. has information about him on its Internet web site.

In May 1997, Into the Sun, for band, commissioned by Southern Utah University for the school and state's 100th anniversary, premiered. The Plainview Symphony commissioned and introduced Elegy: For Jesus Wept, Feb. 1998.

Recent performances of his music have occurred at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic, in Chicago; the Northeast Music Educators Conference, in Baltimore; and the Texas Bandmasters Convention, in San Antonio, as well as others in Florida, New York, Oregon, Kansas, Wasthington DC, Alabama, Hong Kong, and Denmark. As part of the Bodensee (Germany) Music Festival, Visions of Darkness (based on poems by Edgar Allen Poe), for soprano and organ, was heard.
