SAI National Arts Associate Jonathan Elkus, of Albany,
CA, Director of Bands and Lecturer in Music at the University
of California, Davis, owns Overland Music Distributors
(J. B. Elkus & Son and Laureate Music Press). The U.S.
Marine Band has commissioned a concert-band transcription
of Charles Ives's
The Alcotts, from the
Concord
Sonata.
Performances
At the University of California, Davis, soprano Christine
Schadeberg, accompanied by pianist Karen Rosenak, sang
the aria
Oh, My Beloved Sons, from Elkus's one-act
opera
