Joelle Wallach lives in New York,
NY. She has received a commission from the Arizona
Friends of Chamber Music for String Quartet No.
3, for the Muir Quartet.
Premieres
On July 30, 1998, Ya-Wei Wang conducted
Laurel Hall and The Women's Philharmonic in the premiere
of In Memory the Heart Still Sings, a rhapsody
for clarinet and orchestra, at San Francisco's Yerba
Buena Gardens Forum. Incantation, for a cappella
mixed voices, commissioned for the Illinois Wesleyan
University Chorus's national tour, will have its first
performances on the tour, including Alice Tulley Hall,
Lincoln Center, in New York, NY, Mar. 16-17, 1999.
Performances
The Columbia University Chorus and
Orchestra presented Toward a Time of Renewal,
for SATB choir, SATB soloists, and orchestra, Apr.
29, 1998 at St. Pauls Chapel, Columbia University,
New York, NY. Under the baton of Giselle Ben-Dor,
the Wayne (NJ) Chamber Orchestra played The Tiger's
Tail, Oct. 16, 1998. The Juilliard Dance Theater
is producing Glancing Below (Flaws in the Glass),
a ballet for eight players and nine dancers, at Lincoln
Center, Feb. 18-20, 1999.
