A. Oscar Haügland is retired as a professor of theory/composition
at Northern Illinois University, in DeKalb. Recently completed
pieces are
Concertino for Bassoon and Strings,
and piano works
Kelly's Melody and
Zarja's Waltz.
Premieres
In 1998, works heard first at Northern Illinois University
were
Suites 22, 23, 24, 25 (selected movements),
for two bassoons, with Lisa J. Weiss-Cornelius and Emily
Suzanne Miller (Mar. 29); and
The Flag, with the
Northern Illinois Children's Concert Choir, Carol Stubbs
conducting (May 31).
Performances

Children's Concert Choir, led by Stubbs, presented

Flag at George Washington's home, Mt. Vernon, VA (June
8); and at the Navy Memorial, Washington, DC, for the
Festival of States Celebration (June 9).
