William Mac Davis
William Mac Davis is Associate Professor of Music Theory
and Composition at the Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary School of Church Music, Fort Worth, TX. In 1998,
for the fifth consecutive year, he won an ASCAP award.
Premieres
Conducted by the composer,
Midnight Run, for jazz
band, was heard first with New Sound, Nov. 20, 1998 in
Fort Worth. The Southcliff Baptist Church Orchestra, under
Davis, presented
Fanfare for the Christmas Angels,
Dec. 12-13, 1998 (four performances) at Fort Worth's Will
Rogers Auditorium.
Performances
The Colonial Tuba Quartet Festival, held May 1998 in Indiana,
PA, featured the U.S. Army Band Tuba Quartet in
Divertimento.
On Nov. 20, 1998, Davis conducted the Southwestern Wind
Ensemble in
Symphonic Variants on a Southern Hymn Tune,
in Fort Worth. The Southwestern Wind Ensemble, led by
Davis, included
Festival Intrada on 'Hyfrydol'
on its spring 1998 tour of the Southeastern United States,
including Louisville, MS; Anderson, SC; Lumberton, NC;
Chatsworth, GA; Livingston, AL; and Fort Worth; and also
performed the work at the Southwestern Baptist Theological
Seminary's 1998 Spring Commencment (May 9).
