DIRECTOR OF DIVERSITY & INCLUSION
The Director of Diversity and Inclusion is a volunteer who leads the development and implementation of relevant diversity and inclusion initiatives in support of Sigma Alpha Iota collegiate and alumnae members. This is a director-level position, and she serves as a member of the National Officers Conference.
The Director, in collaboration with other national officers and staff, will lead the development of a vision and effective strategy that champions the importance and value of a diverse and inclusive environment within SAI. The Director will assess potential barriers and develop strategies focused on recruiting and retaining a diverse membership. The Director will advise on all education and training initiatives on cultural competency, gender differences and gender orientation differences, disability, sexual harassment, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of inclusion values.
The primary areas of responsibility include advocacy and education. The Director serves as an advisor and resource for leadership and staff in the areas of diversity and inclusion. The Director has strong oral and written communication skills that support ongoing efforts to keep members informed about progress made towards identified diversity and inclusion priorities.
Specific Duties May Include
- Advising the SAI National Officers Conference on diversity and inclusion matters.
- Collaborating with national officers and staff to create, implement, and monitor programs designed to encourage an inclusive environment for collegiate and alumnae members, within the scope of SAI’s mission statement.
- Guiding the development of policies, education, and training to promote cultural understanding and competency and a climate of inclusion.
- Advising the Fraternity regarding recruitment and retention of members.
